About Christ Church |
| Christ Church has a long and historic tradition of ministry in Maplewood, Missouri beginning in 1890. An expression of our United Church of Christ values of creating inclusive community around Jesus' welcome table, taking the Bible seriously in study and dialogue, and embodying Christ ministries of healing, justice and peace. Christ Church continues to be a place where faith development and growth are encouraged. We offer worship services to the glory of God so that "Whoever you are, and wherever you have been on life's journey, you are welcome in this community of faith." |

About the United Church of Christ |
| The United Church of Christ respects freedom of individual conscience, and there are no "tests of faith" mandatory on our members, but we do honor the historic testimonies of our spiritual ancestors as they explored the Bible and applied its insights. The most important of these testimonies are gathered here. United Church of Christ is a community of faith that seeks to respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed. The UCC was founded in 1957 as the union of several different Christian traditions: from the beginning of our history, we were a church that affirmed the ideal that Christians did not always have to agree to live together in communion. Our motto-"that they may all be one"-is Jesus' prayer for the unity of the church. The UCC is one of the most diverse Christian churches in the United States. The UCC embraces a theological heritage that affirms the Bible as the authoritative witness to the Word of God, the creeds of the ecumenical councils, and the confessions of the Reformation. The UCC has roots in the "covenantal" tradition-meaning there is no centralized authority or hierarchy that can impose any doctrine or form of worship on its members. Christ alone is Head of the church. We seek a balance between freedom of conscience and accountability to the apostolic faith. |
